Dear Children,
A couple years ago we got rid of cable tv. It was on way too much and we wanted to protect the innocence of your sweet little minds. You've never missed it a bit and frankly, neither have we. (Except when General Conference comes on twice a year and we have to find someone to watch it with). The tv used to be in our bedroom for quite a while, but it was driving your daddy batty that his room looked more like a playroom. So, to the basement it went for you kiddos to watch movies from time to time.
You should know that on occasion your dad and I want to watch a movie in the coziness of our bed. So this is what we do when we want to watch a movie in bed.
Enjoy an action packed film on a 7" portable dvd player, with our headphones on for better sound. Awesome!
****Mondays Mishaps****
-Took kids in for flu shots. Abby cried just for a minute. Nathan made Hannah go before him and he cried before, during, and after shot.
-Took kids to store to buy some milk after their shots. Walked out to car after buying my things only to find Nathan had swiped a sucker from the check out. Took Nathan back into store to return sucker. Our first experience/lesson on stealing.

LOVE that you are without TV. Ryan and I went TV-less, minus about 6 or so months, when I thought life would be better with it, in the middle. We are still without and I love it! It is funny how much time can be spent watching TV. AND it is shocking what is played on TV now days. I am glad we are shocked by it!
Ry and I watch movies on my Laptop ALL THE TIME! It ois one of my favorite things!
Cable free is the way to be! We've never had cable in our married life. We know we'd never move from the couch if we had it! Have you tried Netflix!? Cheaper than cable... and we can stop it when we need to! We LOVE it! Instant stream movies if you have a laptop or gaming console! (We do the wii... LOVE IT!)
thank you, Melissa, for your example and inspiring ideas! This has been on my mind lately and this week I have made some changes for our kiddos. We don't have cable, but my little boy sure loves watching a lot of kid movies/shows. So we are now limiting those more and including more play time/areas.
I still hope we can meet up sometime! I need to stop saying that and actually set a time :)
