NOT THE BEST MOMMY DAY

I don't have a picture to go along with this post, however I felt like I needed to make a note about this day since it was one of my worst ones as a mother. Here it goes.

After coming back from a walk with the kids, I took Hannah upstairs to change her since she had an accident in her underwear, if you know what I mean. I left Abigail and Nathan downstairs; Abigail was in her car seat and Nathan was fending for himself, which is NEVER a good idea. After getting Hannah changed, I heard Abigail scream and I immediately fled down the stairs to my worst nightmare.....she was on the floor and bleeding from her nose. She had flipped out of her car seat onto the floor. I forgot that she wasn't buckled in when I left her on the kitchen table. I was in a complete panic and literally sick to my stomach. I proceeded to clean her nose and the thought came to me that she may have broken a bone. I was truly panicing at this point. I called the doctor, explained to them what happened and they told me to bring her in right away. Meanwhile, I look over at Nathan who got into the diaper bag and found the diaper rash cream. He had smeared it all over his face and hair all the while saying "lotion...lotion". I quickly wiped him off, called a neighbor to watch after Hannah and Nathan and took Abigail to the doctor. I was on the verge of tears from what had happened to Abigail and was truly feeling like a horrible mother. The doctor looked her over thoroughly and told me she was just fine, no broken bones, no head trauma, no permenant damage, just a bruised nose. I have to add that Abigail was a very happy baby in the doctor office, literally as if nothing had happened to her. I think the doctor could tell that I was feeling horrible about what happened and he proceeded to tell me that this happens sometimes and not to beat myself up over it. It's just a good reminder that I can never be too careful or thoughtful when it comes to my children. There was a list of things the doctor told me to look for the rest of this day in regards to Abby. I'm so grateful that she is okay. This really could have been so much worse.

My oldest sister gave me a cute framed sign for my birthday of a mother with 3 children and the title reads, "Motherhood is not for wimps". Indeed it is not!

You are a fabulous mom! These things will happen, I will freak out too! BUT we will all laugh about it one day!

In think every mom makes mistakes like that at some point! One time I forgot the carseat wasn't buckled into the car when Angela was about 2. I had to slam on my brakes in stop and go traffic, she came crashing into the seat in front of her and got a bloody nose. So in the middle of traffic where there was no where to pull over I had to put the car in park, buckle her back up and try and clean up a bloody nose. So embarrassing and I felt so horrible! Anyways, don't feel too bad about it!

Oh my gosh! SOOO glad everything is alright. You are absolutley one of the best mothers! You're Dr. is so wise to tell you that(sometimes I wonder if they take care of us more than the kids). Things like that can happen when you're standing only a foot away! Thank you for sharing your day... sorry you had to go through it all! Give your babies extra kisses!! Our babies are watched over and protected more than we could possibly ever comprehend!

Oh my heavens my friend! What a day! But really, you are one of the most loving and thoughtful Mom's that I have ever met. Just the fact that you were so worried about each of them, says so much about who you are. They are all very lucky to have you as their mama.

I am so sorry. That happened with Kennedy once, but she was in the carseat buckled up on the couch. She was still strapped in upside down. Things like this happen, you are a good Mom. Days like that are no fun.

You're a great mom, so don't sweat it. I felt the exact same way a couple of weeks ago when Gideon broke his toe. It was awful for me!

And I totally want to see you when y'all come to Idaho Falls. Let's plan something fun to do. Do you have a place to stay?

I'm so glad you survived it! I'm not sure how many times I have driven somewhere, to realize upon arrival that I never had buckled the baby in. I also sat Joseph on our tall bed as a baby just to have him fall head first onto the wooden floor. It's amazing how these kids thrive despite us (or I should say me...you do a great job)!!!

I agree we all have bad days...sorry about yours. Hugs from me too. We love you. And I think you are the BEST mom. I think the doctor could sense that too, and seeing Abagail happy testified of that.

I like to remember the scripture that talks about if we didn't have hard times we wouldn't appreciate the good.
